Common questions
The sound stopped when my screen locked.
It should not, and this is the one thing the app is built to get right. Perpetone declares background audio and keeps playing with the screen locked, indefinitely. If it stops, please tell us — include your iPhone model and iOS version, and whether anything else was playing audio at the time.
Does it stop after an hour, or need me to keep the app open?
No. There is no time limit, no ad break and no session cap. Every sound is generated live rather than played back from a file, so it never loops and never runs out.
Do I have to pay to unlock all the noise colours or the full frequency range?
No, and we will never change that. Every noise colour, the full 1 Hz – 20 kHz range, unlimited background playback and the built-in presets are free permanently. Pro adds convenience only: layering and mixing, your own saved presets, a sleep timer, frequency sweeps and speaker clear.
I can't hear the high-frequency tones.
Most adults cannot hear much above about 16 kHz, and hearing at the top of the range declines with age. The tone is still playing and still carries real energy — keep the volume low.
Nothing plays above 17 kHz on my speaker.
Phone speakers roll off steeply at the top of the range. Headphones reproduce it far better than the built-in speaker.
The sleep timer faded out before it ended.
That is deliberate. The last 30 seconds of any timer fade out gradually, so the audio does not stop abruptly and wake you.
My headphones died and the sound moved to the speaker.
Also deliberate. Most apps pause when headphones disconnect; someone asleep with dead earbuds still wants the masking noise, so Perpetone keeps playing. Press pause on the lock screen to stop it.
I paid but Pro is not showing.
Open Settings inside the app and tap Restore purchases. Restoring uses the Apple ID that made the original purchase, so make sure you are signed in with that one. You will not be charged twice.
How do I cancel a subscription?
In iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Perpetone. Cancel at least 24 hours before your period ends to avoid the next renewal. The lifetime option never renews and has nothing to cancel.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we have no ability to issue them. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong with the app, tell us as well so we can fix it.
Do I need an account? Does it use the internet?
No account, and no internet. Perpetone has no networking code beyond what Apple's StoreKit uses to check a purchase, and it never uses the microphone. See the privacy policy for exactly what does and doesn't leave your device.
