Common questions

Which formats can Pixfold read and write?

It reads HEIC, JPG, PNG and WEBP and writes JPG or PNG. HEIC is the format your iPhone camera uses by default, which is why so many upload forms reject it.

I converted a HEIC to JPG and the file got bigger. Is that a bug?

No — it's a real property of the formats. HEIC stores photos about twice as efficiently as JPG, so converting at full quality genuinely produces a larger file. Use the HEIC to JPG preset: it caps the result at the size of your original, so the output is never bigger than what you started with.

How does the target file size work?

Type a size — 500 KB, 1.5 MB — and Pixfold searches for the highest quality that still fits underneath it. Most tools give you a quality slider and leave you guessing.

It says it couldn't reach my target size.

Quality has a floor. Past a certain point the only way to make a file smaller is fewer pixels, so Pixfold offers to retry at a smaller longest edge. Choosing 1600 px or 1080 px will usually get you there.

Can I convert several photos at once?

Yes — select as many as you like and they all convert in one pass. Tap the ✕ on any thumbnail to drop it from the batch before converting.

Where do my converted photos go?

Nowhere until you say so. Tap Save all to Photos to write them to your library, or the share icon on any result to send it straight to another app.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Completely. Every conversion runs on your device, so Pixfold works in airplane mode. A connection is only needed to verify your subscription.

I reinstalled the app and it's asking me to subscribe again.

Your subscription is tied to your Apple ID, not the installation. Pixfold tries to recover it automatically on first launch; if it doesn't, tap Restore purchases on the subscribe screen or in Settings. You will not be charged twice.

How do I cancel?

In iOS Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Pixfold. Settings inside the app links there directly. Cancel at least 24 hours before your period ends to avoid the next renewal.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we have no ability to issue them. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something went wrong with the app, tell us as well so we can fix it.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

Never. There is no server and no account. See the privacy policy for exactly what does and doesn't leave your device.
